Wedding Rehearsal Rules: Why Your Officiant Isn’t in Charge (and Who Should Be!)

When it comes to your wedding rehearsal, many couples assume the officiant will be there, guiding the wedding party through every step of the ceremony. And while some officiants offer this as an add-on service, it’s a common misconception that they are responsible for running the show.

As wedding officiants with professional experience in live performance and event coordination, we can tell you why our role is different—and why it’s a good thing!
The Officiant’s Role
Our role is to be your guide. We are there to answer any questions you have about the ceremony itself—where to hold your hands, how to stand, or when to say your vows. We will also arrive early on your wedding day to do a final check-in with you and your vendors, ensuring everything is perfect.

Many of our couples find that a simple “walk-through” with us is a more effective use of their time than a full rehearsal. We can walk you and your partner through the ceremony details, allowing us to ensure the ceremony is perfectly tailored to you, and allowing your wedding party to focus on the walk down the aisle.

Your wedding day is a performance, and just like in a play, everyone has a specific role. Trust your team to do their part. Let your coordinator handle the logistics, your planner manage the timeline, and let us focus on what we do best: telling your love story.
